Bengaluru, March 31 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police have lodged an FIR against an individual who was previously released after being apprehended for attempting to open an aircraft’s emergency exit door. Following his release, he reportedly directed offensive comments towards the Bengaluru Police on social media, as stated by officials on Tuesday.

The Kempegowda Airport police have initiated a case related to this incident.

The person involved, identified as Utkarsh Gowtham from Maharashtra, has since removed all his social media content after the FIR was filed and is currently difficult to locate. Authorities reported that Utkarsh attempted to open the emergency door during a flight. Initially, for humanitarian reasons, the police recorded a non-cognizable report (NCR) and allowed him to leave, believing the act to be accidental and without intent.

This occurrence took place on March 22 while Utkarsh was aboard an IndiGo flight. After his attempt to open the emergency door, he was handed over to the Kempegowda Airport police by airline personnel. Following an interrogation, the police opted to release him, treating the incident as non-cognizable.

However, after his release, Utkarsh reportedly shared insulting posts on social media, attacking the Bengaluru Police and calling for the Mumbai Police to take action against them. He also alleged that he was detained for four hours in a cell. These posts gained significant traction online, prompting the Bengaluru Police to file an FIR against him.

In the wake of this development, Utkarsh deleted his posts and has gone into hiding, according to the police. Officials noted that although his actions had created alarm among passengers, they initially viewed it as an unintentional act and issued a warning.

The police have now commenced a search for the individual. The investigation is ongoing.

It is worth mentioning that a separate incident involved a similar panic on an IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Varanasi on March 30, when a passenger attempted to open the emergency exit just before landing, necessitating immediate action from the cabin crew and an emergency response from the cockpit.

During his questioning, the accused claimed he was "possessed by a ghost," a statement that surprised officials as they continued to investigate his behavior.

This incident took place on flight 6E-185 as it was about to land at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. Authorities reported that the passenger, identified as Mohammad Adnan, suddenly approached the emergency exit and attempted to open it by pressing a button twice, shocking fellow passengers.

The crew acted swiftly, restraining him while the aircraft was still in the landing position. The pilot, exercising caution, reportedly lifted the aircraft back into the air before safely landing shortly thereafter.

Upon landing, the individual was handed over to airline security and CISF personnel in accordance with protocol.
