Guwahati, Jan 4 (NationPress) Emphasizing the revolutionary influence of the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East (PM-DeVINE) on Assam’s educational landscape, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Sunday that the initiative is converting government schools into “real temples of learning” with smart classrooms and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

In a recent post on the social media platform X, CM Sarma highlighted that PM-DeVINE is pivotal in enhancing school education across the state, creating modern learning spaces that seamlessly integrate technology with tradition.

Pointing out a school in Palasbari, established in 1953, the Chief Minister remarked that the institution has now transformed into a “divine space where knowledge meets nation-building.”

Launched as a Central Sector scheme in the Union Budget 2022–23, PM-DeVINE aims to fast-track infrastructure development and socio-economic progress in the northeastern states.

In Assam, this scheme has been utilized to modernize educational institutions, enhance learning outcomes, and address long-standing infrastructural deficits, particularly in semi-urban and rural regions.

Officials indicated that numerous government schools statewide have undergone modernization under PM-DeVINE, featuring smart classrooms, digital learning tools, upgraded facilities, and improved basic amenities, thereby facilitating access to quality education closer to home.

This initiative aligns with the state government’s larger ambition to reform the education sector and equip students for future challenges.

Additionally, Sarma mentioned that the Assam Cabinet has sanctioned the establishment of 100 new schools across the state, marking a significant expansion of the public education system.

This action underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring universal access to quality education and its focus on long-term human resource development.

Education specialists have applauded the integration of PM-DeVINE projects with state-led efforts, emphasizing that enhanced infrastructure, alongside teacher training and digital resources, can greatly improve learning outcomes.

The state government has consistently asserted that education is a fundamental pillar of Assam’s development strategy.

The Palasbari school referenced by the Chief Minister is among several heritage institutions that have benefitted from infrastructural upgrades, illustrating how time-honored schools are being redefined to satisfy contemporary educational demands while retaining their historical importance.
