New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt birthday wishes to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday, commending his initiatives to enhance the state’s development trajectory and meet the aspirations of the youth.

The Prime Minister shared his greetings via the social media platform X, expressing his appreciation.

“Warm wishes to Rajasthan CM Shri Bhajanlal Sharma Ji on his special day. He is making significant strides to invigorate the state’s development journey and realize the dreams of the youth. May he enjoy robust health and a long life,” he remarked.

Sharma is serving as the 14th Chief Minister of Rajasthan, having taken office in December 2023. He secured a position in the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly after winning the 2023 Assembly elections from the Sanganer constituency. Notably, he assumed the Chief Minister role after being elected as an MLA for the first time, a rare achievement in the state.

His political career began with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). At just 27, he was elected as the Sarpanch of his village, marking the beginning of his grassroots political journey. He remained actively engaged in public life and formed close ties with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His longstanding association with the organization has led many to consider him closely aligned with the RSS leadership and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In his early political years, Bhajanlal Sharma was an active participant in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement and faced imprisonment for his involvement. Over time, he engaged in various movements across Rajasthan and held several significant roles within the RSS. He also made notable contributions to organizations like the BJP, RSS, and ABVP, gradually solidifying his political presence.

Sharma first contested the Assembly elections in 2003 from the Nadbai constituency in Bharatpur, representing the Rajasthan Samajik Nyay Manch (RSNM). Despite receiving only 5,900 votes and losing his deposit, he remained active in the BJP, serving as the party’s General Secretary in Rajasthan four times.

In 1990, he was part of the Kashmir march organized by the ABVP, resulting in his arrest alongside several others. Following this, in 1992, during the Ram Janmabhoomi campaign, he emerged as a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), marking a turning point in his political career.

In 2016, Sharma was appointed as the BJP’s State General Secretary after previously serving as the party’s State Vice President in 2014. During this time, he made substantial efforts to bolster the BJP’s organizational framework in East Rajasthan and played a crucial role in supporting Home Minister Amit Shah during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, receiving accolades for his dedication and organizational capabilities.

On December 12, 2023, the BJP appointed Bhajanlal Sharma as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, and he took the oath of office on December 15, 2023, coinciding with his birthday. He won the Sanganer Assembly seat by a remarkable margin of nearly 48,000 votes, defeating Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj. In the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections, the BJP secured 115 out of 200 seats, regaining power in the state.
