The Prime Minister was spotted relishing jhalmuri at a bustling local stall, engaging with the community, exchanging smiles, and creating a memorable outreach experience beyond the formal campaign trail. He notably shared jhalmuri with children and women who were gathered at the shop.
The locals were taken aback when PM Modi visited the shop prior to addressing a public rally in Jhargram.
Later, the Prime Minister shared highlights from his visit to the snack shop across his social media platforms.
"In between four rallies across West Bengal on a busy Sunday, I enjoyed some tasty jhalmuri in Jhargram," PM Modi posted on his X account. After a delightful time, PM Modi departed the area.
On the same day, PM Modi was in West Bengal to conduct four election rallies ahead of the state's first phase of Assembly elections on April 23.
The shop owner, Vikram Shaw, expressed his joy at having served jhalmuri to the Prime Minister, stating, "He stopped his car and approached me. He asked for jhalmuri and specified he wanted it spicy. He complimented the jhalmuri, saying it was delicious. He interacted with children and their parents, asking for their names. Meeting him was a joyful experience for me."
Jhalmuri is a renowned, spicy, and crunchy street food snack characteristic of West Bengal. It is typically prepared by mixing puffed rice (muri) with diced onions, tomatoes, boiled potatoes, roasted peanuts, chickpeas, green chilies, and a distinctive dressing of raw mustard oil, lemon juice, and Bengali bhaja moshla (a roasted spice blend).
