New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday celebrated the beloved Sufi poet Amir Khusro's admiration for Basant (spring), which is currently blossoming throughout Delhi.
During the Jahan-e-Khusro event, PM Modi recited a couplet from Khusro, reflecting on the season: "Sakal ban phool rahi sarson, sakal ban phool rahi sarson, ambva phoote tesu phule, koyal bole daar-dar.."
PM Modi remarked that there is a unique scent at the Jahan-e-Khusro event, stating, "this fragrance is of the soil of India," and noted that Hindustan, as Hazrat Amir Khusro likened it, is akin to paradise.
He expressed, “Our Hindustan is that heavenly garden where every hue of culture thrives. The essence of this land is extraordinary. Perhaps that is why when the Sufi tradition arrived in India, it seemed to harmoniously connect with its own terrain. The Sufi heritage in India has carved out a unique identity for itself. Sufi saints have transcended the confines of mosques and khanqahs,” PM Modi shared.
He highlighted that Hazrat Amir Khusro recited verses from the Holy Quran and also absorbed the teachings of the Vedas, enhancing the sweetness of devotional songs with the sound of Azan.
“Hazrat Khusro portrayed India as superior to all the prominent nations of his time. He regarded Sanskrit as the finest language globally, believing that the wise figures of India surpass even the most eminent scholars. The essence of any nation's civilization and culture is articulated through its songs and music, and it is expressed through art,” he articulated.
PM Modi reaffirmed that the Sufi tradition in India has established a distinct identity for itself, emphasizing that Sufi saints have not confined themselves to mosques and khanqahs.
“Such events are not just vital for our nation's art and culture; they also offer solace. This series of Jahan-e-Khusro is commemorating its 25th anniversary. It is a significant achievement that this event has secured a place in the hearts of people over these years,” the Prime Minister remarked.
