New Delhi, May 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Kerala and Andhra Pradesh on Friday to inaugurate and dedicate crucial infrastructure and developmental initiatives.

The Prime Minister's arrival in Kerala is slated for around 10:30 a.m., where he will officially launch the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport—a monumental project valued at ₹8,900 crore that stands as India’s first specialized container transshipment port.

Positioned strategically near one of the world’s busiest maritime trade corridors and boasting a natural depth of about 20 meters, this port is anticipated to significantly bolster India’s footprint in global shipping and trade logistics.

As stated by officials, “This is the nation’s inaugural dedicated container transshipment port, symbolizing the transformative progress within India’s maritime sector as part of the collective vision of Viksit Bharat.

Following the Kerala event, Prime Minister Modi will head to Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, arriving around 3:30 p.m. There, he is expected to inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate various development projects cumulatively exceeding ₹58,000 crore.

Included in these are seven National Highway projects focusing on widening highway segments, building road overbridges, subways, and elevated corridors to alleviate congestion and enhance interstate travel and logistics efficiency.

Moreover, several railway infrastructure initiatives will be inaugurated. According to the official statement, “The Prime Minister will also dedicate railway projects aimed at improving connectivity and increasing capacity. This includes doubling the rail line between Bugganapalle Cement Nagar and Panyam stations, enhancing the link between Rayalaseema and Amaravati, and constructing a third rail line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada stations.”

The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for six new National Highway projects and one railway initiative. “These projects encompass widening various National Highway segments; constructing elevated corridors, half cloverleafs, and road overbridges, among others. These initiatives will enhance connectivity, interstate travel, reduce congestion, and improve overall logistics efficiency. The construction of a Rail over Rail line between Guntakal West and Mallappa gate stations aims to bypass freight trains and minimize congestion at the Guntakal Junction,” the statement added.

This visit highlights the government’s commitment to fortifying India’s maritime capabilities and enhancing connectivity nationwide.
