Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, 11 May inaugurated Sardar Dham Bhavan-3 in Vadodara, a ₹150 crore residential and academic facility, and simultaneously launched a ₹500 crore education support scheme as part of a sweeping expansion of the Sardar Dham educational and social development framework in Gujarat. The event marked one of the largest single-day expansions of the Sardar Patel-inspired community initiative, which targets students preparing for competitive examinations.

What Was Inaugurated

Bhavan-3 is the newest addition to the Sardar Dham infrastructure network in Vadodara, designed to function as a large-scale combined residential and training facility with capacity for thousands of students. The complex integrates hostel accommodation, digital learning infrastructure, libraries, counselling facilities, and structured coaching support for examinations including UPSC, GPSC, and other professional entry tests.

During the same programme, Prime Minister Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the Dharamshi Harji Mordiya Girls Chhatralaya Phase-2, a project intended to expand hostel facilities for female students and increase residential capacity for girls pursuing higher studies and competitive examinations.

The Sardar Dham Education Support Yojana

The event also saw the formal launch of the Sardar Dham Education Support Yojana, a ₹500 crore initiative designed to strengthen financial assistance, training, and mentoring support for students. According to details shared during the programme, the scheme is aimed at enhancing access to structured educational resources, particularly for those from modest socio-economic backgrounds preparing for professional courses and public service examinations.

This comes amid a sustained national focus on expanding competitive examination infrastructure for first-generation learners, where access to quality coaching and residential support has long been identified as a key gap.
