Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the 'Sardar Gaurav Ratna' by organisations of the Patidar community in Vadodara on Monday, 11 May, during a ceremony tied to the inauguration of the newly constructed Sardar Dham Bhavan-3 — a major educational and residential complex developed under the Sardar Dham initiative. The honour, described as the highest recognition instituted by eight major Patidar organisations, was presented in appreciation of contributions to social development and nation-building ideals associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's legacy.
About the Sardar Dham Bhavan-3 Complex
The newly inaugurated facility has been built at an estimated cost of ₹150 crore and spans nearly 4.75 lakh square feet. Designed as a residential-cum-training centre, it has a capacity for approximately 2,000 residents and is intended to support education and competitive examination preparation for youth from the community.
The complex includes hostel accommodation for both boys and girls, an e-library, dedicated training centres for examinations such as UPSC and GPSC, counselling facilities, and an auditorium for community events. The event also marked the formal operational expansion of Sardar Dham's third major centre in Gujarat, with earlier facilities already functional in Ahmedabad.
