New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that the unexpected demise of Agnivesh Agarwal, the son of Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal, “is profoundly shocking and disheartening.”

Anil Agarwal announced the loss of his cherished son Agnivesh via an X post, stating that he “departed from us too soon.”

In response, PM Modi remarked, “The unexpected passing of Shri Agnivesh Agarwal is profoundly shocking and disheartening. Your sorrow is palpable in this heartfelt tribute. I pray that you and your family find enduring strength and fortitude. Om Shanti.”

Agnivesh was an alumnus of Mayo College, Ajmer, and founded one of the premier firms, Fujairah Gold. He later took on the role of Chairman at Hindustan Zinc.

“This is the darkest day of my existence. My dear son, Agnivesh, has left us too soon. He was merely 49 years old, healthy, vibrant, and full of aspirations. Following a skiing mishap in the US, he was recuperating well at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. We believed that the worst was over. However, destiny had different plans, and a sudden cardiac arrest took our son from us,” the Vedanta Group Chairman shared via an X post.

“We envisioned a world where no child goes to bed hungry, where every child has access to education, every woman is empowered, and every young Indian finds meaningful employment. I had vowed to Agni that over 75 percent of our earnings would be returned to society. Today, I reaffirm that promise and commit to living an even simpler life,” he added.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, expressed his sorrow regarding the “irreparable loss” suffered by Anil Agarwal.

“As a parent, I can feel the weight of your emotions. I pray to Paramatma for strength for you and your family during this challenging time. May Agnivesh's soul attain Sadgati,” Goyal posted on X.
