New Delhi, Sep 28 (NationPress) During his Mann Ki Baat broadcast on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered heartfelt tributes to the legendary Assamese singers Bhupen Hazarika and Zubeen Garg, as well as the esteemed Kannada author S.L. Bhyrappa, highlighting their impactful contributions to Indian culture.

PM Modi shared two of Bhupen Hazarika's songs, stating, "These melodies illustrate how Bhupen Hazarika's music transcends borders globally. A notable initiative in Sri Lanka has seen local artists translate his iconic song 'Manuhe-Manuhar Baba' into Sinhala and Tamil. I shared the audio of these beautiful renditions with you."

He reminisced about attending Hazarika's birth centenary celebrations in Assam, remarking, "It was indeed an unforgettable occasion."

In his remembrance of Zubeen Garg, PM Modi expressed, "As Assam celebrated the centenary of Bhupen Hazarika, we also faced a moment of sorrow with the untimely passing of Zubeen Garg."

"Zubeen Garg was a distinguished artist with a profound bond to Assamese culture. His legacy will remain alive in our hearts, and his music will resonate through future generations," he added, while playing selections from Garg's repertoire.

Honoring S.L. Bhyrappa, PM Modi remarked, "Recently, we lost the brilliant thinker and philosopher, S.L. Bhyrappa. I had the honor of knowing him and engaged in deep discussions on numerous topics during our meetings."

"His literary works will continue to inspire the youth. Many of his Kannada writings have been translated, emphasizing the need to cherish our roots and heritage. I extend my sincere tribute to S.L. Bhyrappa and encourage young minds to explore his literary contributions," he concluded.
