New Delhi, Nov 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Dehradun on Sunday to take part in a program celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Uttarakhand.
The event is scheduled for approximately 12:30 p.m.. During his visit, the Prime Minister will unveil and lay the foundational stones for a series of development projects valued at over ₹8,140 crore.
As part of the festivities, Prime Minister Modi will also introduce a special commemorative postal stamp to honor the occasion and will address the attendees.
During this event, he will inaugurate projects exceeding ₹930 crore and lay the groundwork for new initiatives totaling ₹7,210 crore. These projects span several vital sectors, such as drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill development.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will announce a financial assistance package of ₹62 crore benefiting over 28,000 farmers, with direct transfers to their bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Among the projects set for inauguration are the Dehradun Water Supply Coverage Project for 23 zones under the AMRUT scheme, an electrical substation in Pithoragarh district, solar power plants on government buildings, and the AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital.
Moreover, Modi will lay the foundation stones for two significant hydro-sector projects—the Song Dam Drinking Water Project, which aims to provide 150 million litres per day (MLD) of drinking water to Dehradun, and the Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital, designed to deliver drinking water, enhance irrigation, and generate electricity.
Other initiatives for which foundation stones will be laid include electrical substations, the establishment of a Women’s Sports College in Champawat, and a modern dairy plant in Nainital, among others.
