Bhopal, Oct 21 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid tribute to the valiant sacrifice of police personnel during the Police Commemoration Day observed in Bhopal on Tuesday.
He honored the martyred police officers with floral tributes, recognizing that their sacrifices are vital for maintaining peace and security in society.
The Commemoration Day Parade took place at the Red Parade Ground in Bhopal. In his address, Chief Minister Yadav stated that the sacrifices made by our jawans continually inspire pride and motivation.
He reminisced about the chilly morning of 1959 when ten courageous police personnel lost their lives while protecting the nation in the Hot Springs area of Ladakh. This event initiated the tradition of observing Police Commemoration Day in India.
Yadav remarked, "The unmatched bravery displayed by our ten heroic officers in 1959 equates to the valor of 10,000. This day symbolizes the essence of selfless duty and sacrifice. Those who give their lives for duty are eternally remembered," he remarked.
He emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is regarded as an "island of peace," attributing this to the police force's vigilance, discipline, and commitment.
According to him, police personnel have been pivotal in combating Naxalism, organized crime, cyber offenses, and ensuring women's safety while promoting technology-driven innovations and public awareness initiatives.
"It is commendable that the morale of criminals has been diminished by our police, facilitating the state's progress towards effective governance," expressed the Chief Minister.
Yadav commended the police for their exemplary efforts under the government’s zero-tolerance policy, including neutralizing ten Naxalites with a cumulative reward of Rs 1.5 crore last year, apprehending the Jaipur serial blast suspect, and taking decisive actions against terrorists.
He acknowledged the police’s initiatives such as the Srijan program, ‘Safe Click-Surakshit Jeevan’ campaign, and Nasha Se Door Rehna Hai Zaroori drive, highlighting their significant social impact.
Furthermore, he praised the integrated service center launched in Balaghat district aimed at enhancing the environment of safety and development. He recognized the police for their crackdown on illegal arms manufacturing and smuggling, as well as their efforts to redefine child protection and empowerment through the Srijan initiative.
Yadav stated, "Police officers are exemplifying community policing by conducting workshops in slum areas on topics such as good and bad touch, prevention of sexual violence, child rights, nutrition, health, and cybersecurity."
During the event, Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana revealed that from 21 October 1959 to 31 August 2025, a total of 1,009 police personnel from Madhya Pradesh have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
