Guwahati, Nov 24 (NationPress) Assam is actively enhancing its internal security framework through significant investments in police infrastructure, as part of a wider initiative to promote safer communities throughout the state, asserted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday.

The Chief Minister emphasized the government's ongoing endeavors, noting that while others merely offer promises, Assam is prioritizing tangible, visible advancements on the ground.

In a post shared on social media platform X, the Chief Minister stated that the state is fortifying police infrastructure to create safer communities, emphasizing that progress in the law and order sector is a principal focus for the government.

Sarma revealed that 16 new police housing projects and five modern commando battalions are currently in development across various regions of Assam.

He noted that the new housing initiatives are designed to enhance living conditions for police personnel and their families, thereby boosting morale and operational readiness.

Additionally, the establishment of modern commando battalions highlights the government’s commitment to tackling organized crime, insurgency threats, and other security challenges through well-trained and equipped forces.

“These initiatives transcend mere buildings or facilities; they are about cultivating an environment where our police force can operate more efficiently and effectively. With enhanced stations, upgraded equipment, and improved training, we are providing safety and tranquility to the residents of the state,” Sarma declared.

He further stated that a robust police infrastructure is essential for boosting public confidence, deterring criminal activities, and ensuring prompt responses in emergencies.

Over recent years, the state government has undertaken numerous measures to modernize police stations, enhance forensic capabilities, expand surveillance networks, and increase mobility through new vehicles and technology-driven monitoring systems, he asserted.

“Security experts affirm that such investments in physical infrastructure, combined with capacity building and technological advancements, have a long-lasting effect on maintaining stability and enhancing law and order,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister reiterated that this initiative serves as a support mechanism for police personnel who frequently work in challenging and high-risk environments.

He pointed out that the Assam government remains dedicated to advancing these projects swiftly, with a commitment to transparency, efficiency, and community safety.

“With the latest developments in progress, the state is preparing to address future security needs with greater readiness and resilience,” the Chief Minister concluded.
