Kolkata, March 22 (NationPress) A new wave of political discussion has emerged in West Bengal over posters depicting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, which have appeared in multiple locations across southern Kolkata in the past 36 hours.

Interestingly, both the 'posters and counter-posters' have been put up by the same group, FAM4TMC, a self-identified online community of supporters of the ruling party in the state.

Onlookers and political analysts began to take interest on Friday when the first set of posters was unveiled in various parts of south Kolkata.

These posters, featuring a yellow background, showcased Abhishek Banerjee with a caption in Bengali— 'Adhinayak Abhishek (Captain Abhishek)'.

This prompted discussions among political analysts and within the Trinamool Congress leadership regarding the rationale behind highlighting only the party's general secretary and referring to him as the 'captain'.

However, the debate intensified on Saturday afternoon when a different set of posters with the same yellow background emerged, this time featuring Mamata Banerjee and a caption in Bengali -- 'Sarbadhinayika Jai He (Hail the lady supreme commander)'.

Political circles are now abuzz with speculation on whether this duel of posters signifies a resurgence of the debate surrounding 'old guards versus new blood' within the party.

The organizers of FAM4TMC assert that the opposition parties are unnecessarily inflating the controversy surrounding this issue.

'While we are supporters of the Trinamool Congress, none of our members are full-time activists of the ruling party. They have their own professional commitments and contribute to campaigning for the party at their convenience. There's nothing controversial about the sequence of poster displays,' said a FAM4TMC organizer.

Nonetheless, political analysts believe the situation is more complex than the organizers suggest.

'If it were that straightforward, the organizers would have unveiled both types of posters simultaneously. The fact that the second type was displayed nearly 24 hours after the first introduces enough elements for a political debate,' commented a local political observer.

Recently, a core committee meeting of the Trinamool Congress was convened by the Chief Minister to identify bogus voters in West Bengal. Notably, Abhishek Banerjee did not attend that meeting.

However, shortly after the core committee meeting, he addressed a virtual gathering on the same topic with all levels of party leadership.
