Prashant Kishor, Chief of the Jan Suraaj Party and newly elected MLA from Bankipur, on 13 August outlined an ambitious constituency agenda covering police accountability, private-school fee relief, and employment for 10,000 families — even as he welcomed, but stopped short of endorsing, the Bihar Government's decision to offer financial assistance and a government job to a family member of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari. The statements came during Kishor's visit to residents of Ward No. 16 of the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna, where supporters celebrated his decisive by-election victory by weighing him against laddus.

On the Tiwari Family Relief: Welcome, but Incomplete

Kishor acknowledged the Bihar Government's move to provide financial assistance and a government job to a member of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari's family as a positive step, but argued it fell short of full justice. He said that genuine accountability would require identifying, and taking legal action against, those who allegedly ordered and carried out the firing.

'The judicial inquiry should establish individual responsibility and ensure that those found guilty face legal consequences,' he said.

He further questioned why similar relief was not being extended to the families of other young people who had died in police encounters, specifically naming Bunty Yadav's family. He alleged the selective approach was politically motivated.

Bankipur Result as Political Pressure

Kishor used the occasion to take a direct swipe at Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, claiming that the Bankipur by-election outcome had visibly altered the Government's posture on police encounters. He alleged the ruling establishment was now under greater scrutiny to address questions surrounding such incidents, and that the relief granted to the Tiwari family was a direct consequence of electoral pressure from Bankipur. This comes amid a broader pattern of encounter-related controversies that have periodically drawn political fire in Bihar.

Education: Private School Fees and Government School Reform

Kishor raised concerns about the financial burden on families from private-school fees, including re-admission and uniform-related charges. He said he plans to engage school administrators to work towards reducing these costs, calling children's education one of his primary concerns as MLA.

He promised that government schools in the Bankipur area would see a qualitative improvement by next year's Dussehra. Notably, he added a personal guarantee: if the improvement does not materialise, he would personally bear the cost of enrolling children from affected families in private schools.

Employment: One Job Per Family Across 10,000 Households

On employment, Kishor reiterated his commitment to facilitating private-sector jobs for at least one educated member from each of 10,000 families in the constituency, with a focus on educated youth currently without work. The pledge builds on an earlier promise to connect 10,000 Bankipur youths with private-sector employment, making jobs, education, and public accountability the three central pillars of his legislative programme as a first-term MLA.
