Prayagraj Law Enforcement Enhances Infrastructure for Mahakumbh 2025 Security

Lucknow, Dec 29 (NationPress) The arrangements for the 2025 Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, set to commence on January 13, are progressing rapidly, with the Uttar Pradesh Police finalizing their security strategies for this large-scale event.

The Yogi Adityanath administration has crafted a comprehensive plan aimed at ensuring the safety and smooth transit of the more than 40 crore pilgrims anticipated to attend.

To guarantee effective security and assist in the safe departure of pilgrims, a seven-tier security framework has been established.

The Prayagraj Police will manage the outer perimeter of the Kumbh Mela, enhancing infrastructure and increasing personnel. Temporary police stations and checkpoints have been erected throughout both urban and rural settings to strengthen this outer security perimeter.

In addition to the local police, forces including the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), NDRF, Central Armed Police Forces, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads, and AS Check teams will be deployed to uphold law and order. Police units will also be held in reserve in both urban and rural areas, in addition to the Mela grounds, to assure overall security.

The Prayagraj Police Commissionerate will operate 57 police stations, comprising 13 temporary stations, a rise from the standard 44 stations.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have strategically positioned new temporary stations and checkpoints near crucial locations such as railway stations, bus terminals, airports, and major routes to ensure the safety of the pilgrims arriving for the Mela.

Police Commissioner Tarun Gauba emphasized that 13 temporary police stations and 23 checkpoints are being created to handle the large influx of pilgrims.

Furthermore, to coordinate the event’s logistics and security, Prayagraj has been segmented into 8 zones and 18 sectors, each overseen by senior officers, including Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs) and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).

The infrastructure of the Prayagraj Police Commissionerate for the occasion will comprise 8 Zones, 18 Sectors, 13 Temporary Police Stations, 44 Permanent Police Stations, 23 Checkpoints, 21 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies (with 2 in reserve), 4 NDRF companies, 4 Bomb Detection and Disposal (BDD) teams, and 12 AS Check teams.
