New Delhi, Oct 4 (NationPress) Congress general secretary and Wayanad Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra emphasized that her ongoing initiatives in the constituency prioritize meeting the daily needs of the populace and ensuring effective implementation of welfare projects.
In a message shared on X, she stated, "I feel honored to have launched a project approved by my brother Shri Rahul Gandhi that will provide essential water services to the Mylukunnu Unnathi community and all the wonderful women involved."
The initiative is designed to fulfill a long-standing demand for drinking water among Mylukunnu's residents.
During her recent visit to the area, which concluded last month, Priyanka Gandhi engaged with beneficiaries and assessed the scheme's progress alongside relevant departmental officials.
She also mentioned that talks were held regarding the sustainable management of the water supply infrastructure.
"I addressed maintenance concerns related to these projects with department officials and followed up with discussions in the DISHA meeting," she noted in her post.
Priyanka highlighted that the review meeting proposed follow-up actions to ensure that once the community takes over the projects, they receive adequate support and guidance from the implementing agencies.
Having dedicated numerous days in Wayanad last month to engage with residents and inspect development sites, the Congress MP has been advocating for participatory governance and enhanced oversight to improve grassroots project delivery.
This recent visit represents another stage in her outreach efforts, which blend direct public engagement with meticulous project oversight, a framework she considers vital for ensuring development that is "responsive and centered on the people."
Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi served as the representative for Wayanad from 2019-2024 and contested again in the May 2024 elections. However, following his victory, the Congress party requested him to serve the Rae Bareli constituency, prompting his resignation from Wayanad.
In the by-elections last November, Priyanka Gandhi achieved a remarkable victory.
