New Delhi, Oct 4 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has presented a chargesheet against 11 individuals in connection with a case from April 2025 involving the BKI-led Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) assault on the Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala, Punjab, as confirmed by an official source.
All the accused are currently in custody. The chargesheet, submitted to the NIA Special Court in Mohali, Punjab, outlines various offenses under the BNS 2023, UA (P) Act, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act.
Additionally, there are another 11 individuals identified in the case who remain at large.
According to statements, foreign-based operatives connected to the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist group, including Harpreet Singh (@Happy Passia), Mannu Agwan, and Gurpreet Singh (@Gopi Navasherian), have openly claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred late on April 6 this year. This operation was executed by BKI members, with substantial assistance from overseas operatives, aiming to instill fear and promote the agendas of anti-India factions.
Investigations taken over by the NIA from the Punjab Police in May revealed that the conspiracy was orchestrated by foreign terror operatives, who exploited familial ties and other vulnerabilities.
These operatives utilized social media to radicalize and recruit susceptible youths in Punjab to perpetrate terrorism against India, according to reports.
An official indicated that the NIA continues its investigation under Section 193(9) BNSS, aiming to apprehend the absconders and any other unidentified conspirators involved in the assault.
The NIA serves as the nation’s central counter-terrorism law enforcement agency, responsible for probing offenses that threaten India’s sovereignty and security.
Founded under the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, the NIA’s primary mission is to address cases involving terrorist activities, human trafficking, counterfeit currency, and other designated crimes.
