New Delhi, Oct 5 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a chargesheet against four accused individuals in connection with the grenade attack on the residence of former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia, officials reported on Sunday.

The chargesheet identifies two apprehended suspects: Saidul Ameen from Amroha (Uttar Pradesh) and Abhijot Jangra from Kurukshetra (Haryana). Additionally, it mentions two fugitives: Kulbir Singh Sidhu from Yamunanagar (Haryana) and Manish, also known as Kaka Rana, from Karnal (Haryana).

The NIA's statement indicated that all four have been charged under multiple sections of the UA(P) Act, BNS, and the Explosive Substances Act in case RC-/11/2025/NIA/DLI.

The incident targeting former BJP Minister Manoranjan Kalia's home in Jalandhar, Punjab, took place on the night of April 7. The NIA assumed control of the case a few days later, on April 12.

Kulbeer Singh, a member of the prohibited terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), allegedly collaborated with his associate Manish to establish a terror faction.

Their plan was to intimidate notable leaders in Punjab, thereby instilling fear within the public and generating funds for BKI via extortion, as per NIA reports.

Manish later enlisted Saidul Ameen, who threw the grenade on that fateful night. The explosive device was given to Saidul by Kulbir, while Abhijot supplied the necessary funds.

Following the attack, Kulbir issued a poster claiming the conspiracy alongside Manish. A red corner notice has been raised for Kulbir, who is also wanted with a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

Previously, the NIA had also chargesheeted Kulbir concerning the targeted killing of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in April 2024.

The investigative agency has amplified its efforts to locate and apprehend the absconders and unearth other BKI affiliates active in India.

On the preceding Saturday, the agency filed a chargesheet against 11 individuals linked to an April 2025 incident involving an RPG terror attack orchestrated by BKI at the Qila Lal Singh police station in Punjab's Batala.

All 11 accused are presently in custody. According to the announcement, they have been charged under various provisions of BNS 2023, UA(P) Act, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act in the chargesheet submitted to the NIA Special Court, Mohali, Punjab.

Furthermore, in the Chandigarh Sector 10 grenade attack case, the NIA has chargesheeted a crucial suspect recently. The attack was orchestrated by BKI terrorists operating from abroad.

Abhijot Singh, alias Babba or Gopi, a resident of Punjab who was arrested in April for his role in the attack, has been formally charged in the supplementary chargesheet presented to the Special NIA Court, Chandigarh, on Friday.

Officials noted that the incident, which targeted a retired Punjab Police officer, was part of a broader conspiracy to instill societal fear.

The entire operation was devised by Pakistan-based BKI terrorist Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, in collaboration with US-based gangster Happy Passia, according to officials.

NIA investigations have indicated that Passia was responsible for recruitment, funding, and supplying weapons and explosives to operatives in India.

Point of View

I emphasize the importance of thorough investigations in such serious matters. The NIA's actions reflect a commitment to national security and public safety in the face of rising threats. Society must remain vigilant and supportive of the authorities in their efforts to combat terrorism.
