Chandigarh, April 12 (NationPress) The Punjab Police, in collaboration with Central agencies and the Delhi Police, have apprehended Saidul Ameen, the principal suspect linked to the grenade attack on BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s house in Jalandhar, as confirmed by the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, on Saturday.

An explosion transpired at Kalia's residence, situated in Central Town Jalandhar, on the evening of April 7.

Initial investigations have suggested a broader conspiracy, allegedly orchestrated by Pakistan’s ISI, aiming to disrupt communal peace in Punjab.

This arrest follows the previous capture of two local accomplices -- Satish alias Kaka, alias Lucky, from Bhargo Camp in Jalandhar, and Harry from Garha Road in Jalandhar, who provided logistical assistance to Saidul Ameen.

The operation was reportedly masterminded by Zeeshan Akhtar, a close ally of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and the ISI-backed gangster Shahzad Bhatti, while the involvement of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) is also under investigation.

DGP Yadav, alongside Commissioner of Police (Jalandhar) Dhanpreet Kaur, addressed the media in Jalandhar, stating that the accused Saidul Ameen, originally from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, was captured in Delhi following a rigorous multi-state manhunt.

“This arrest exemplifies the effective collaboration between the Punjab Police, Central agencies, and the Delhi Police in dismantling terror networks,” he remarked.

The DGP also mentioned that ongoing inquiries have uncovered financial connections to those involved in the grenade attack, including a Haryana-based suspect named Abhijot, who was arrested by Haryana Police on Friday after an exchange of gunfire in Kurukshetra.

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police plans to bring him in on a production warrant for further probing, added the DGP.

He stated that investigations are continuing to identify handlers, financial sponsors, and any potential foreign ties associated with the attack.
