Chandigarh, April 17 (NationPress) A soldier stationed in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, has been apprehended for allegedly providing training via social media to the primary suspect involved in the grenade attack on the home of a Jalandhar-based YouTuber last month, according to Punjab Police on Thursday.

The suspect, Sepoy Sukhcharan Singh, aged 30, hails from Muktsar in Punjab and joined the Army in 2015, serving with the 163 Infantry Brigade in Rajouri.

Senior Superintendent of Police for Jalandhar-Rural, Harvinder Singh Virk, stated that Singh's name surfaced during the questioning of the main suspect, Hardik Kamboj, who threw the grenade at Rozer Sandhu's residence.

Fortunately, no injuries occurred as the grenade failed to detonate.

A total of nine individuals have been detained in connection with this event.

Singh has been implicated, and a court has granted police custody for five days, according to Virk.

He noted that the main suspect and the soldier connected through social media, where Singh allegedly taught the removal of the grenade pin through video calls.

Investigations reveal that they became acquainted on Instagram. Singh is accused of providing online training using a dummy grenade before demonstrating how to operate a real grenade. An object resembling a grenade was hurled at Sandhu's home in Maqsudan, Jalandhar, on March 16, but thankfully it did not cause any harm.

A Pakistani gangster claimed responsibility for the attack.

Shortly after the incident, two videos surfaced on social media, one featuring Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti, who asserted that he ordered the attack on the YouTuber for purportedly using offensive language against the Muslim community.

The primary suspect, Kamboj, aged 18, was captured in Yamunanagar district, Haryana. Following the incident, Deputy Inspector General of Police Naveen Singla indicated that the object thrown at Sandhu's residence was identified as an Arges-type grenade, a standard hand grenade. Kamboj has confessed to throwing the grenade and maintaining contact with Bhatti, receiving Rs 25,000 for the act, according to police reports.
