Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has brought charges against two individuals, including the notorious Pakistani gangster Shehzad Bhatti, linked to the grenade attack that occurred last year at the residence of YouTuber Roger Sandhu in Jalandhar, Punjab, as confirmed by an official on Thursday.
The NIA, which assumed control of the investigation from the Punjab Police in December 2025, has identified Shehzad as an absconder in the supplementary chargesheet submitted to a special court.
So far, a total of 10 individuals have been apprehended in connection with the case, while seven others, including Shehzad, whose location remains unknown, are still at large.
The other individual listed in the chargesheet is Dipander Pratap Singh alias Deepan Rana, who has been detained in relation to RC-22/2025/NIA/DLI. Both have been charged under several provisions of the UA (P) Act, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act, and BNS 2023, according to the NIA.
The Punjab Police initially registered the case in March of last year and had previously submitted a chargesheet against nine individuals based on their investigations.
The grenade attack targeting Sandhu's home in Raipur Rasoolpur village, located in Jalandhar district, took place in the early hours of March 16, 2025.
According to the NIA’s investigation, Shehzad orchestrated the attack from abroad as part of a broader terror conspiracy involving an extensive network of terror modules engaged in targeted killings, recruitment, and the smuggling of arms and ammunition into India.
Shehzad utilized encrypted communication methods to instruct various participants involved in the attack, as uncovered by the NIA.
Dipander played a crucial role as a local facilitator for the gangster, providing essential logistical support to the attackers. He was also found to be involved in the handling of illegal arms and explosives, as per the NIA's findings.
The NIA is actively continuing its investigation to locate the absconding suspects and to dismantle other terror modules connected to the larger conspiracy behind the attack.
