Chandigarh, March 30 (NationPress) In a significant development in the ongoing inquiry into the grenade assault on YouTuber and social media personality Roger Sandhu's residence, the Punjab Police apprehended the seventh suspect on Sunday.

The individual, identified as Maninder alias Bobby, hailing from Ali Chak, Jalandhar, was taken into custody at the Chandigarh Airport, marking a critical progression in the case.

This arrest is part of a series of efforts initiated under the guidance of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, aimed at enhancing safety within the state, according to police reports.

The arrest of Maninder was executed based on reliable intelligence, by the Jalandhar Rural Police.

Investigative teams have been diligently working to uncover the complete network of individuals involved in the assault.

The attack occurred during the night of March 15-16, when a group of assailants targeted Roger Sandhu's home in Raipur Rasoolpur, Jalandhar.

Initial investigations indicated that Maninder had played a role in the acquisition of weapons, which were then handed over to co-accused Rohit Basra.

Subsequently, Basra provided these arms to other attackers, Amritpreet and Dheeraj, on March 8 in Jandu Singha.

Maninder has a prior criminal record with several cases lodged against him under the Arms Act.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed that the total number of arrests in the case now reaches seven.

Prior to this, police had detained six additional suspects, including Amritpreet Singh alias Sukha, Hardik Kamboj, Dheeraj Kumar, Santosh Kumar alias Pandey, Lachmi, and Rohit Basra. Authorities have confiscated one hand grenade, two 32-bore pistols, cartridges, and three motorcycles from the suspects.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Rural, Gurmeet Singh, noted that police acted promptly after receiving credible information regarding Maninder's arrival at Chandigarh Airport.

He mentioned that investigations are still in progress, and further arrests and recoveries are anticipated in the upcoming days.
