Three Khalistani Militants Responsible for Punjab Police Attacks Eliminated in Uttar Pradesh Encounter

Pilibhit (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 23 (NationPress) Three individuals linked to a grenade attack on police posts in Punjab's Gurdaspur were fatally shot in an encounter with law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit early on Monday, as reported by a senior police official.
Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed on the social media platform X, "In a significant achievement against a Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror cell, a collaborative operation by UP and Punjab Police resulted in an encounter with three members of the module who opened fire on the police team. This terror cell is responsible for grenade assaults on police facilities in the border regions of Punjab."
He stated that the trio was involved in the grenade attack targeting a police post in Gurdaspur.
Pilibhit Superintendent of Police (SP) Avinash Pandey confirmed that the gunfight took place in the jurisdiction of the Puranpur police station, involving the suspected Khalistani militants and a combined team from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh Police.
The injured suspects, identified as Gurvinder Singh, Virendra Singh, and Jasanpreet Singh, were wounded and transported to a hospital for medical care.
Authorities retrieved two AK-series rifles, two Glock pistols, and a significant cache of ammunition from the encounter site.
"Early this morning, a team from Punjab Police alerted the Puranpur police station about suspects involved in a grenade attack by alleged Khalistani militants who might be concealed in the vicinity," SP Pandey stated.
Upon receiving this intelligence, police units quickly established a blockade and conducted area searches. They later received information regarding three suspicious individuals on a motorcycle, driving recklessly while carrying potentially dangerous items towards Pilibhit.
"Both Punjab Police and Puranpur police personnel pursued the suspects. In the meantime, the Gajrola and Madhav Thanda police stations were informed of possible escape routes. Near a canal track by an under-construction bridge, the suspects opened fire when confronted by police. During the return fire, all three sustained injuries and were subsequently sent to CSC Puranpur for treatment," Pandey explained.
However, they later succumbed to their injuries.
Recently, multiple explosions targeted police posts in Gurdaspur. On Thursday, a grenade was thrown at the now-closed Bakshiwal police post.
The following day, another explosion occurred at the Wadala Bangar police post, which had also been recently shut down due to understaffing.
Local residents expressed their distress over the blasts. At Wadala Bangar, terrified locals emerged from their homes at night, only to discover the source of the sound was the police station. Following the explosion, police vehicles patrolled the area throughout the night, sirens wailing.
