Punjab Grenade Attack Incident: Three Individuals Linked to ISI Terror Network Killed in UP

Chandigarh/Pilibhit, Dec 23 (NationPress) A significant breakthrough against the Pakistan-ISI sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) was achieved through a collaborative operation involving the Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police, resulting in an encounter with three members of the terror module implicated in a grenade attack on a police facility in Gurdaspur, announced Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, on Monday.

The confrontation unfolded within the jurisdiction of the Puranpur police station in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, after the three suspects fired upon the joint police team.

This incident occurred less than a week following an attack where unidentified individuals launched a grenade at the police post in Bakshiwala, Gurdaspur, on December 18. It is noteworthy that the KZF claimed responsibility for this act of terror via social media.

DGP Yadav has named the three operatives as Varinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh, and Jashanpreet Singh, all residents of Kalanaur. The police in UP also seized two AK-47 rifles and two 9MM Glock pistols from their possession.

Preliminary investigations suggest that this terror module is directed by Ranjeet Singh Nita, the KZF leader based in Pakistan, and is operationally managed by Jaswinder Singh Mannu, who resides in Greece and is originally from Kalanaur.

Interestingly, Varinder, the module leader, was reportedly masterminded by Jagjeet Singh based in Britain and had assumed the alias of Fateh Singh Baghi to claim responsibility for the grenade strike.

DGP Yadav referred to this operation as a prime example of inter-state collaboration, highlighting that the information gathered by the Punjab Police was swiftly communicated to the UP Police, which initiated a joint operation against the suspects.

Elaborating on the operation, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Border Range, Satinder Singh stated that after receiving intelligence about the suspects fleeing to UP and seeking refuge in Pilibhit, the Gurdaspur Police promptly alerted the Pilibhit Police and dispatched teams from Gurdaspur to commence a joint operation.

The police units managed to track down the suspects, who opened fire when confronted, prompting a retaliatory response from the police. During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the three suspects sustained injuries and were immediately transported to the Community Health Centre in Puranpur for medical assistance.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harish Dayama mentioned that ongoing investigations aim to uncover all affiliations and members of this terror module, with additional arrests and recoveries anticipated in the near future.

In summary, three Khalistani terrorists involved in bombarding Punjab Police posts were killed during an encounter in Uttar Pradesh. Pilibhit Superintendent of Police (SP) Avinash Pandey confirmed that the gunfight occurred in the Puranpur police station area, resulting in the deaths of the three suspects responsible for the grenade attack.

“Both Punjab Police and the Puranpur police station personnel pursued the suspects. Near an under-construction bridge along a canal track, the suspects opened fire when challenged by the police. In the ensuing exchange, all three were injured and subsequently taken to CSC Puranpur for treatment,” he noted.

Sadly, they later succumbed to their injuries.
