Chandigarh, May 31 (NationPress) — On Saturday, the BJP officially announced the nomination of Jiwan Gupta as its candidate for the upcoming four-way Assembly by-election in Ludhiana West, Punjab, scheduled for June 19.
Gupta takes over from Advocate Bikram Singh Sidhu, who previously contested the 2022 Assembly elections, finishing third with 28,107 votes, which accounted for a 23.95 percent share of the votes.
Currently serving as the general secretary of Punjab BJP, Gupta is also a member of the party’s core committee.
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had earlier announced its candidate for the Ludhiana (West) Assembly by-election: Sanjeev Arora, a Rajya Sabha MP, with results to be unveiled on June 23.
The seat became vacant following the unfortunate passing of Congress MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, who died at the age of 58 from a gunshot wound at his residence in January.
