The anti-drug initiative in Jalandhar, led by police commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, resulted in the recovery of an astonishing 13.1 kg of heroin, five illegal .32 bore pistols, 12 bullets, three magazines, three luxury cars, and unaccounted cash totaling Rs 22,000.
This operation is part of a series of similar actions taken, following a previous raid on June 25, which led to the arrest of two individuals; a third suspect, who had fled, was captured on Monday.
According to police reports, Shivam Sodhi, also known as Shiva, son of Varinder Sodhi from Lamba Pind Chowk, was arrested on May 20. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Barinder Singh, known as Babbu, son of Dwinder Singh from Amar Nagar, on May 22, 2025.
During these earlier arrests, authorities seized 13 kg of heroin, three luxury vehicles, two illegal .32 bore pistols, six live cartridges, and drug money amounting to Rs 22,000.
The two suspects were charged under Sections 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act and reportedly admitted their involvement during interrogation.
The third suspect, Sukhjeet Singh, known as Sukhkha, son of Lakveer Singh from Bishamberpura, was apprehended on Monday.
On that day, three additional illegal pistols, six live cartridges, and 100 grams of heroin were recovered, bringing the total amount of contraband to 13.1 kg.
