Chandigarh, April 30 (NationPress) — In a groundbreaking initiative to align technical education with the evolving demands of the industry through skill-based experiential learning, Punjab’s Technical Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains unveiled a first-of-its-kind B.Tech. program in Mechanical Engineering (Industry Integrated) on Wednesday.
Bains informed the press that a transformative Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) in Bathinda and Victura Technologies Private Limited (VTPL) of Faridabad.
This innovative program is the first of its kind nationwide, allowing students to engage with the industry from their very first semester, with the industry campus regarded as a deemed campus.
The agreement was formalized by MRSPTU Registrar Gurinder Pal Singh Brar and Victura Managing Director Hardeep Singh Banga.
“This is not merely an MoU. It’s a commitment to the youth of Punjab, ensuring their education transcends theoretical knowledge by integrating real-world applications, cutting-edge technologies, and hands-on experience,” Bains stated.
He emphasized that this pioneering collaboration aims to revolutionize technical education by embedding industry exposure into the academic framework, thereby addressing the issue of unemployment.
Highlighting the significant features of the agreement, Bains mentioned that the program will last four years, comprising five semesters of academic study at MRSPTU and the final three semesters dedicated to practical industrial training at Victura Technologies.
The program will commence with an initial batch of 30 students to ensure concentrated mentorship and superior training.
The minister also noted that Victura Technologies will set up a VTPL Advanced Automation Lab on the MRSPTU campus to enhance experiential learning and innovation.
Additionally, the program provides financial assistance of up to 50% for meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, along with free accommodation, meals, local transportation, and a stipend during the industrial training phase.
