Chandigarh, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police, in collaboration with the Bathinda Police, apprehended two associates of the late criminal Overseer Singh, also known as Satinder Singh. The operation led to the recovery of two .32 bore pistols and five cartridges, as stated by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, on Monday.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Lakhwinder Singh Gill, from Burj Gill village in Bathinda, and Avtar Singh, known as Dhillon, hailing from Bhai Rupa village in Bathinda.

This incident follows the recent arrest of four members of the Gurpreet Sekhon gang, who were implicated in the notorious murder of Overseer Singh. During that operation, police seized one .32 bore pistol and six cartridges.

Reports indicate that Overseer Singh, a notorious figure from Bhai Rupa, was fatally shot by a neighbor and accomplices due to personal rivalry around 4 am on February 5.

DGP Yadav remarked that the individuals detained have previous criminal records, with several cases registered against them.

Investigations are still underway to determine the connections in this case, he added.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF, Promod Ban, mentioned that further inquiries revealed the involvement of the arrested individuals, prompting their capture in Bhai Rupa.

According to him, Lakhwinder Gill and Avtar Singh are recognized as associates of Overseer Singh and had fired at the opposing group.

Both suspects were arrested in relation to a cross-FIR case, he noted.

A case registered on February 5 falls under Sections 125 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at the Police Station Phul in Bathinda. Section 109 of the BNS was added as part of the cross-FIR, the police confirmed.
