Chandigarh, Dec 10 (NationPress) As the zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections approach, Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced on Wednesday that the police force is thoroughly prepared to guarantee free, fair, and peaceful elections in the state, with a deployment of more than 44,000 personnel.

The elections will take place on December 14, with results to be unveiled following the vote counting on December 17.

Highlighting the importance of fostering a positive environment in the state, DGP Yadav instructed police officers to implement professional policing and to rigorously follow the Model Code of Conduct.

Providing additional insights, Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, who led a virtual meeting with Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) alongside Range DIGs75 percent of police force from districts for election deployments.

All CPs and SSPs have been directed to establish robust inter-state and inter-district checkpoints to monitor any anti-social activities and conduct flag marches in their jurisdictions to reassure the public. Additionally, DGPs from neighboring states have been requested to set up checkpoints along the Punjab border.

Shukla indicated that 18,718 polling booths have been established at 13,395 polling stations, with 860 classified as hyper-sensitive and 3,405 as sensitive.

He confirmed that over 44,000 police personnel are on duty under the oversight of gazetted rank officers to ensure the elections are conducted without incident.

Moreover, all CPs and SSPs are required to maintain consistent and vigorous patrolling in sensitive and vulnerable areas to prevent any unforeseen disturbances.
