Jalandhar, Feb 25 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated on Wednesday that Punjab, being a border state, is actively countering Pakistan's persistent attempts to disrupt peace through anti-social activities and drone incursions. In a significant effort to bolster law and order within the state, CM Mann emphasized his government's dual focus on creating jobs and modernizing the police force, as evidenced by the formal induction of 2,577 new employees into the Punjab Police during a passing-out ceremony held at the PAP Ground.
He described the recruitment initiative as a part of the AAP government's employment revolution, revealing that more than 12,010 police officers have been appointed since March 2022. An allocation of Rs 1,100 crore has been designated to enhance the police force using scientific methods, incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as AI integration, specialized technical units, and a reinforced Anti-Narcotics Task Force to tackle cybercrime, terrorism, and drug-related issues.
CM Mann asserted that Punjab is experiencing unprecedented recruitment, swift technological advancements, and a firm crackdown on criminal activities, reiterating his administration's commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region. He remarked, "Upon taking office, I prioritized the scientific enhancement of the Punjab Police and allocated Rs 1,100 crore for this aim."
He further stated, "It is a source of great pride that the Punjab Police has been modernized to effectively address every challenge and uphold the country's unity, integrity, and sovereignty."
Addressing the unique challenges faced by Punjab as a border state, the Chief Minister mentioned, "The Punjab Police is diligently fulfilling its duties amidst these challenges."
Highlighting the training of the new recruits, CM Mann noted that these officers have received instruction at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur, the Police Recruit Training Centre in Jahan Khelan, Hoshiarpur, and the In-Service Training Centre in Kapurthala. Since March 2022, the government has distributed appointment letters to over 12,010 police personnel across various ranks, which include 1,062 Sub-Inspectors, 450 Head Constables, 10,098 Constables, and 400 civilian support staff, all of whom were trained at multiple Punjab Police training facilities.
