Chandigarh, March 11 (NationPress) On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu participated in a civic reception organized in her honor by the Punjab government in Mohali.
During her address, the President remarked that with the blessings and guidance of the Gurus, the region of Punjab has produced numerous martyrs and revolutionaries. The significant chapters of India’s freedom struggle have been inscribed on the lands of Punjab.
The President emphasized that the people of Punjab have demonstrated remarkable examples of service and commitment. The langar service in gurdwaras around the globe is available to everyone, without any form of discrimination.
Individuals worldwide have adopted the art of langar seva from the citizens of Punjab.
She acknowledged the substantial contributions made by the courageous soldiers of Punjab to our armed forces. The land has been home to remarkable figures who have enriched the country and the world across various fields, including social reform, education, science and technology, industry, sports, politics, and social service.
“Punjab has also played a pivotal role in advancing Indian agriculture. Since the 1960s, in response to food shortages, the diligent farmers of Punjab have successfully spearheaded the Green Revolution, ensuring food security for the nation,” she stated.
She expressed her belief that the farmers and agricultural scientists of Punjab would once again lead the nation in agriculture, embracing eco-friendly farming.
Meanwhile, during the reception at the Indian School of Business, the Chief Minister welcomed the President, declaring the visit a momentous occasion in the state's history, bringing joy to every Punjabi.
The Chief Minister noted that the President is warmly welcomed to Punjab—the revered land of great Gurus, saints, seers, and prophets.
He expressed hope that the President would experience the rich cultural heritage of the state, in addition to enjoying the warm hospitality of the Punjabis.
Prior to this, the President attended an event at the Central University Bathinda, and on Wednesday, she is set to participate in the convocation at Panjab University in Chandigarh.
