Chandigarh, April 4 (NationPress) The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab, Anindita Mitra, announced on Saturday that the state is fully equipped for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with all preparatory tasks being carried out in an organized and timely fashion.

Mitra underscored the achievements to date, stating that a thorough pre-SIR mapping initiative has been executed in every district across the state.

As of April 4, it has been reported that 74.27 percent of electors in Punjab have been successfully mapped according to the last intensive revision records.

From a total of 21,457,521 electors, 15,936,941 have been mapped across Punjab.

To guarantee the prompt and efficient conclusion of the pre-SIR process, daily evaluations of the progress made by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) are being conducted at the headquarters, allowing for close oversight and quick issue resolution.

Providing insights by district, Mitra noted that areas like Tarn Taran (88.64 percent), Moga (86.91 percent), Muktsar Sahib (85.47 percent), and Mansa (84.20 percent) have achieved some of the highest mapping rates.

Significant districts such as Ludhiana (64.14 percent), Amritsar (75.60 percent), Jalandhar (68.05 percent), and Patiala (69.33 percent) have also demonstrated considerable progress.

The CEO stressed that electors can actively check and map their details by consulting the 2003 electoral rolls, which are pivotal for the SIR process.

“We encourage citizens to verify their names in the 2003 electoral roll. If their names are not listed, they should check the details of their family members, including parents or grandparents, to establish their connection,” the CEO remarked.

During the SIR initiative, booth-level officers (BLOs) will undertake door-to-door enumeration throughout the state. Enumeration forms will be distributed in duplicate and collected alongside supporting documents to ensure comprehensive coverage.

All electors whose names appear on the 2025 voter list must complete these enumeration forms.

“The active participation of citizens is vital to ensure that every eligible voter is included and that electoral rolls remain accurate and current,” the CEO stated.

She added that the appointment of booth-level agents (BLAs) by political parties is essential, noting that over 8,000 BLAs have been appointed statewide, promoting broader stakeholder engagement in the electoral process.

To assist voters, a state and district contact center has been established at the toll-free number 1950. The helpline operates from 9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and will be available round-the-clock during the SIR period.

Citizens can also lodge complaints through this number. Furthermore, electors can utilize the “Book a Call with BLO” feature on the ECINET platform and access various services via the Voter Helpline App.
