Bengaluru, Jan 20 (NationPress) Former Congress MP D.K. Suresh, sibling of Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar, stated on Tuesday, “We are exercising patience for the benefit of MLAs and party members.” He emphasized that the party has promised a forthcoming decision relevant to leadership, and Rahul Gandhi must evaluate developments occurring throughout the nation.
While addressing the media in Bengaluru, Suresh remarked, “For the party’s welfare, as well as for MLAs and party workers, we must approach matters with tranquility and patience. Furthermore, Shivakumar holds the position of State President for the Congress party, and he should exemplify discipline first. He is adhering to that discipline.”
Suresh highlighted that Rahul Gandhi, as a national figure, takes multiple factors into account. “He must consider political scenarios nationwide. Naturally, my perspective aligns with the interests of Shivakumar. The media interprets issues through its lens. Others may have different opinions. Those aiming for ministerial roles will perceive matters from that standpoint,” he explained.
“Rahul Gandhi must form an opinion based on the developments across the country. He needs to be cognizant of various occurrences. The party leadership plans to contemplate everything before reaching a consensus decision. We are confident in this outcome,” Suresh affirmed.
“Attaining power is no simple feat. I have previously mentioned that if it is destined for my brother, he will ascend to the Chief Minister role. I reiterate this now. The Chief Minister position does not come easily,” he added.
Responding to inquiries, he stated, “This isn’t merely about specific castes. The Congress party requires backing from all communities. Politicians need votes from Vokkaligas and Lingayats, as well as from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. There is no room for pleasing solely one group. Votes from all communities are crucial.”
He pointed out that caste-centric politics hampers both state and national development. “Shivakumar remains steadfastly loyal to the party and not to any individual. He consistently affirms this loyalty in his speeches. Some individuals show loyalty to persons for power,” he added.
Suresh also noted that Shivakumar has supported the party through all challenges. “Regardless of whether the party is in power, he has stayed with it. Given this context, all perspectives are being assessed with caution,” he emphasized.
“Power does not come easily, and no one relinquishes their position without a struggle. Even Gram Panchayat officials do not vacate their roles easily. The Chief Minister position requires significant effort. Shivakumar is awaiting guidance from the party,” he stated.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar has been a disciplined soldier of the party from the beginning, Suresh reiterated. “He is patiently waiting in the interest of MLAs.”
“The party has requested us to stay patient and assured that a decision will be made at the right moment. Rahul Gandhi also mentioned this during his visit to Mysuru. We are waiting with a focus on the party and legislators. Our target is the 2028 Assembly elections in the state,” he explained.
Sources indicate that Deputy CM Shivakumar anticipates a favorable decision from the high command by the Shivarathri festival.
It is noteworthy that Deputy CM Shivakumar remarked that time will reveal all answers.
He added: “The Chief Minister and I are aware of the discussions and decisions made in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and national leadership.”
“I am maintaining silence, believing that I should not raise these topics. One thing is certain — time will reveal everything. Beyond this, I will not elaborate,” he stated.
When inquired about his brother, former Congress MP D.K. Suresh, stating that they would receive positive news from the high command, Shivakumar responded, “My brother, party workers, and even the media believe I will receive encouraging news. I have the backing of 140 MLAs. Even Chief Minister Siddaramaiah supports me. Do you know the nature of my discussions with the Chief Minister? We are aware of the deliberations held in front of Rahul Gandhi. We also understand the decisions made in the presence of the national leadership.
