Chandigarh, Sep 20 (NationPress) In a pointed critique of the Congress party, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has charged Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, with disseminating misinformation aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Election Commission and undermining democratic institutions.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Opposition resorts to falsehoods and unfounded accusations as part of a calculated strategy to erode public confidence in India's democratic framework.
“The claims made against the Election Commission are not only false but also misleading. They often present themselves to the public without proper preparation and make statements that threaten democracy. It has become a pattern for Rahul Gandhi to make baseless allegations and then retract them,” the Chief Minister disclosed to the media.
He accused Gandhi of fabricating these groundless accusations solely to shield infiltrators and urban Naxals. “The Congress's ultimate goal is to diminish public trust in democracy, foster unrest, and destabilize India, while the BJP government is dedicated to safeguarding democracy, unlike the Congress, which colludes with infiltrators,” the Chief Minister declared.
CM Saini provided evidence, stating that Gandhi connected the voter list issue during the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections to the current Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, despite his appointment being in February 2025.
Labeling the allegations as factually incorrect and politically driven, the Chief Minister questioned why Gandhi is assigning blame to the current Chief Election Commissioner for an event that transpired in 2023.
Concerning the Aland Assembly constituency in Karnataka, which Gandhi mentioned, the Congress had actually won in that region in 2023.
CM Saini accused Gandhi of distorting the truth to mislead the public. “An FIR has already been filed in this case. The Election Commission has even shared the mobile numbers and IP addresses involved. The ongoing inquiry is being handled by the CID, under the Congress-led government in Karnataka.”
He humorously questioned whether Gandhi trusts his own party's government and its investigation. CM Saini remarked that Gandhi named several individuals, claiming their names were removed from the voter list.
“This clearly signifies that he is making dangerous, inflammatory remarks under the guise of a particular religion. The intention is to fracture society. The nation is observing how the Congress is endeavoring to create divisions in society based on caste and religion,” he emphasized.
The Chief Minister assured that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India’s democracy remains entirely secure. “Some unsuccessful individuals are striving to jeopardize it by inciting chaos to conceal their failures. Perhaps, this is their last resort to sustain their political relevance,” he concluded.
