New Delhi, Jan 21 (NationPress) The Congress campaign for the February 5 Delhi Assembly election is set to receive a significant uplift as Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, has scheduled three rallies over three consecutive days, commencing on Wednesday.

On January 22, Gandhi will lead a rally near Inderlok Metro station (Sadar Assembly), marking his second major event in the election-driven Delhi following the extensive rally in Seelampur on January 13.

The following day, January 23, Gandhi will be in Mustafabad for another rally. On January 24, he will conduct an election meeting in Madipur.

During a press conference at the DPCC office, former Delhi Minister Narendra Nath announced Gandhi’s rally schedule and mentioned that the party's prominent campaigner is likely to address pressing issues affecting the residents of Delhi.

Nath indicated that, in addition to highlighting the shortcomings of the Arvind Kejriwal government and the BJP in tackling the problems plaguing the Capital, Gandhi may also advocate for Dalits who are not receiving their rightful entitlements.

The Congress party has not secured a single seat in the past two Assembly elections for the 70-member assembly, a stark contrast to their three consecutive victories from 1998 to 2008.

In another development, former Member of Parliament and Dalit leader Udit Raj reported being detained at the Mandir Marg Police Station after he attempted to advocate for Dalit priests and sought a meeting with Kejriwal at his residence.

Udit Raj stated that Kejriwal's anti-Dalit stance was once again revealed when he declined to meet him, along with several Buddhist monks and priests from Guru Ravi Das and Valmiki temples.

Raj explained that he visited Kejriwal's residence with Dalit priests to request a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000, similar to the financial support offered to priests of temples and granthis of Gurudwaras by the ruling AAP.

Despite being at home, Kejriwal did not take the time to meet us, lamented Udit Raj.

He further requested Kejriwal to include Dalits in the Delhi AAP government’s pilgrimage initiative for senior citizens to holy sites, but this proposal was also dismissed.
