Jaipur, Feb 27 (NationPress) Following a week-long stalemate, the impasse in the Assembly has come to an end, and the suspension of six Congress MLAs has been lifted.
Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully extended an apology for the controversial statements made by Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra, acknowledging that they were unsuitable for the dignity of the Assembly.
"Dotasra’s remarks were not in line with the decorum expected in the House. I sincerely apologize," Jully stated.
Jully recognized Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma's efforts in resolving the deadlock while also expressing concerns over the delay in discussions.
"If negotiations had taken place four days earlier, we could have avoided spending nights in the House or protesting outside," he noted.
He also stressed that a functioning Assembly necessitates cooperation from both the ruling and opposition factions. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, pivotal in breaking the deadlock, emphasized the need for responsible dialogue within the Assembly.
"Public representatives must be cautious with their language. If any member makes an inappropriate comment, they should introspect and regret it," he remarked.
Sharma reiterated that managing the Assembly is a collective responsibility.
"It is not solely the ruling party's obligation but that of all 200 MLAs. I urge the Speaker to remove the minister’s remarks from the records. The opposition is our strength," he added.
Earlier today, Congress MLAs staged a boycott of the Assembly sessions, conducting a sit-in outside the building. Despite the opposition's efforts, they accused the ruling party of being unyielding in negotiations.
"The government has shown no initiative to resolve the deadlock. Their arrogance hinders the opposition from engaging in Assembly discussions," Jully claimed.
During their protest, Congress leaders conducted a parallel Assembly, designating MLA Ghanshyam Mehar as the mock Speaker. They simulated legislative proceedings, raised inquiries, and made sarcastic comments to spotlight their complaints.
Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra criticized the BJP government for overlooking vital issues such as water, electricity, healthcare, and education in the budget.
