Jaipur, Nov 15 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma provided a significant financial uplift for the farmers of Rajasthan and tribal students during the state-level Tribal Pride Day celebrations on Saturday, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The event was hosted at the SBP College grounds in Dungarpur, where the Chief Minister was honored with a traditional turban and sword before he offered floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
During the celebration, the Chief Minister introduced various developmental initiatives, laying the groundwork for 24 projects valued at Rs 62 crore and inaugurating 31 projects worth Rs 25 crore, all aimed at the welfare of tribal communities.
He inaugurated a residential batch of 60 tribal girls who are preparing for competitive exams like IIT-JEE and NEET at Janjati Bhawan in Jaipur.
Subsequently, Rs 4.8 crore was transferred to 12,000 tribal students for essential educational supplies such as school uniforms and stationery. Additionally, a remarkable Rs 204 crore was directly transferred into the accounts of 53,466 beneficiaries under various agriculture-related schemes.
CM Sharma emphasized the historical role of tribal communities in preserving nature, culture, and environmental harmony. He noted the state's commitment to safeguarding tribal heritage and promoting their development.
He recalled the contributions of tribal icons during India's independence struggle, highlighting Sardar Patel's unification of 562 princely states and Birsa Munda's revolutionary spirit at the young age of 15.
He also paid homage to Govind Guru Maharaj, whose quest for justice resonated from Mangarh Dham in Vagad. Sharma announced increases in hostel and sports academy allowances for tribal students and the distribution of free maize seed kits to tribal farmers. Outstanding students and six distinguished individuals were awarded the Tribal Pride Award.
Tribal Development Minister Babulal Kharari stated that the government is dedicated to ensuring fundamental amenities and opportunities for tribal communities.
