Jaipur, March 8 (NationPress) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma underscored the vital role of women in shaping a prosperous India and Rajasthan, showcasing their invaluable impact across various domains such as politics, arts, sports, education, health, and security.
During a state-level women’s recognition event on International Women’s Day at Birla Auditorium, he called for united efforts to uplift marginalized women and ensure their integration into society, promoting empowerment at both the state and national scales.
While addressing the audience, Sharma depicted women as symbols of sacrifice, compassion, patience, tolerance, and bravery. He asserted that their contributions merit acknowledgment and celebration, as they significantly shape society in their roles as mothers, educators, and professionals. Quoting ancient texts, he reiterated that prosperity follows where women are respected.
The Chief Minister declared a notable increase in the savings bond amount under the Lado Protsahan Yojana. The sum, previously Rs 1 lakh, has been elevated to Rs 1.50 lakh for girls from economically disadvantaged families. Sharma attributed this progress to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has introduced policies that empower women and foster self-reliance.
On International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister symbolically transferred his digital social media accounts to Nari Shakti. Highlighting essential initiatives, the CM mentioned: "Toilets have been constructed in every household to uphold women’s dignity, LPG connections have been facilitated through the Ujjwala Yojana, and the state government is now offering LPG cylinders at Rs 450. Additionally, the Nari Shakti Vandan Act was enacted, ensuring 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies."
Sharma reiterated the state government’s commitment to women’s welfare, showcasing various initiatives such as the Lakhpati Didi Scheme—benefiting over three lakh women with financial aid, the Matrivandan Scheme—supporting nearly five lakh women, a 10 percent wage increase for Anganwadi workers, assistants, and Saathin sisters, and the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative—where over 10,000 gram panchayats have engaged in tree plantation drives.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari highlighted the increasing engagement of women in sectors such as start-ups, business, arts, tourism, sports, and media.
She emphasized that women’s decision-making abilities propel family, societal, and national advancement.
