Jaipur, Sep 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma fiercely criticized the opposition Congress during the current Monsoon Session of the Rajasthan Assembly on Wednesday. Amid a persistent uproar from Congress MLAs, CM Sharma claimed the opposition was engaging in "drama for cheap popularity" rather than addressing important issues impacting the citizens of the state.
“The House is designed to tackle the challenges faced by 8 crore residents of Rajasthan, yet the opposition is squandering valuable time. The public is observing everything, and they won't forget such conduct when the opportunity arises,” the Chief Minister stated emphatically.
He pointed out that this session was called to discuss and resolve civic grievances, but the Congress failed to present any significant topics for discussion.
“Not a single pertinent issue was raised by the opposition to ensure the true voice of the populace reached the assembly,” he noted. Referring to the recent heavy rainfall that caused difficulties in numerous districts, Sharma accused the opposition MLAs of not visiting the impacted regions.
“Not one opposition member went to evaluate the situation or empathize with the affected individuals. Conversely, our MPs, ministers, MLAs, and officials were on the ground, assessing the damage and providing assistance to alleviate the suffering of the people,” he asserted.
Additionally, the Chief Minister accused Congress of raising baseless objections regarding the proposed anti-conversion bill instead of concentrating on disaster relief and governance.
Reaffirming his commitment to advocate for public concerns, Sharma declared: “You couldn't silence me before, and you won't be able to do so in the future. This is a voice raised for the benefit of the people, and no one has the authority to suppress it.”
His remarks led to further protests from Congress members, but the Chief Minister remained resolute, asserting that his administration would prioritize public welfare over political theatrics.
Speaking about his party members, Chief Minister Sharma remarked that BJP leaders emerge from grassroots movements and have always stood alongside the citizens.
“Our members faced violence while in the opposition, fighting against injustice. When troubles arise, they feel the pain because they have struggled for the public,” he expressed.
Taking a jab at Congress, Sharma said the opposition party lacks understanding of the challenges faced when out of power. “The Congress does not comprehend the agony of being in the opposition,” he added.
Expressing frustration over the continuous disruptions by Congress MLAs during the monsoon session, the Chief Minister stated: “You haven't raised any issues worthy of discussion. Your sole aim is to promote yourself.”
He reiterated that no one could stifle his voice.
“This government will persist in working for the people of Rajasthan, regardless of the disturbances within the House,” he affirmed.
Highlighting his administration's efforts, Sharma mentioned that BJP representatives and officials have been actively engaging with the community at the grassroots level.
“We have been attentive to the people’s concerns and have worked to alleviate their distress,” he remarked.
Turning to the opposition, the CM posed a pointed question: “What is Congress doing for the public?”
