Jaipur, Feb 18 (NationPress) The owner and manager of an unauthorized firecracker manufacturing facility in Rajasthan's Bhiwadi, where seven individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating explosion, have been apprehended by law enforcement.
The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Hemant Kumar Sharma, the factory proprietor, and his manager Abhinandan.
Hemant is reportedly the sibling of Yogesh Kumar Sharma, a head constable assigned to the Bhiwadi Police's DST unit, as confirmed by officials on Wednesday.
The explosion took place in the Khuskheda Industrial Area during the illicit production of firecrackers on Monday.
In total, seven people, including a contractor, perished in the incident, while four others suffered severe burns.
Bhiwadi's Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Atul Sahu stated that a police team conducted a raid on the Ghaziabad residence of the plot's owner Rajendra Kumar, the third accused in the matter, on Monday night. His family informed the authorities that Rajendra is currently battling a brain tumor and undergoing medical treatment.
On Tuesday, his family provided a written commitment at the Khuskheda police station to present him before the police. Should he fail to report on Thursday, law enforcement will initiate further efforts to apprehend him.
The police have filed charges against four individuals: factory owner Hemant Kumar, manager Abhinandan, plot owner Rajendra Kumar, and contractor Ajit. Hemant and Abhinandan are in custody, Rajendra Kumar is presently receiving treatment, while contractor Ajit tragically died in the explosion.
Ajit's remains will be returned to his family following DNA testing and a post-mortem examination by a medical board. In response to the explosion, authorities have sealed the unauthorized factory and a nearby warehouse. Additionally, on Tuesday, another illegal firecracker factory and warehouse located approximately 500 meters from the explosion site were also sealed.
Both facilities are believed to be owned by Hemant Kumar Sharma. Authorities recovered large quantities of illegal firecrackers, raw materials, and manufacturing equipment.
