Rajasthan Government Eases Transfer Ban, Excluding Education Sector

Jaipur, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Rajasthan government has officially announced a partial lift of the transfer ban policy on Monday, set to take effect from January 1 to 10, with the State Education department remaining exempt from this change.
Importantly, Grade III teachers will also not be subject to transfers during this period.
According to the government directive, no transfers will be permitted within the elementary, higher, or technical education departments. Furthermore, the prohibition on the transfers of officials tasked with updating the voter list will stay in effect until January 7, with transfers allowed only between January 8 and 10, creating a limited three-day window for modifications.
This marks the second instance where the transfer ban policy has been relaxed since the BJP administration took over in Rajasthan.
The previous relaxation occurred from February 10 to February 20, 2024, before the ban was reinstated.
Members of the BJP, including MLAs and party leaders, have persistently advocated for the repeal of the transfer ban policy.
This demand was frequently voiced during discussions with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
Similar to past administrations, the preferences of BJP MLAs and party officials are anticipated to significantly impact transfer decisions.
Moreover, the opinions of BJP organizational officials will also play a crucial role in the process.
It is projected that over 300,000 employees across various government sectors will undergo transfers.
Sectors including Medical, Energy, Police, and Public Health Engineering are likely to witness the highest volume of transfers.
The transfer ban in the Education department remains due to the lack of a finalized transfer policy.
Grade III teachers have been excluded from transfers for a significant duration, a restriction that was also maintained during the previous Congress government.
Teachers' organizations have consistently urged for the removal of this ban, emphasizing the necessity for flexibility and equity.
