Rajasthan Government Marks One Year in Office: A Comprehensive Review of Its Achievements

Jaipur, Dec 15 (NationPress) A mere year has gone by since the BJP-led Bhajanlal government took the reins in Rajasthan, and it has already received considerable public acclaim due to its numerous welfare schemes, development initiatives, and the infusion of crores of rupees into the state.
Additionally, the BJP's triumph in five out of seven seats during the recent by-elections has altered the political landscape, particularly after their defeat in eight seats during the Lok Sabha elections.
Importantly, the state administration achieved a remarkable milestone by signing MoUs worth Rs 35 lakh crore at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit.
Nonetheless, the government is addressing concerns related to paper leaks and the formation of new districts.
Despite the public's positive feedback, as reflected in the by-election outcomes, the opposition continues to launch severe criticisms regarding various matters.
In the paper leak case, Rajasthan Public Service Commission member Babulal Katara and former member Ramuram Raika were detained, yet the opposition is attempting to challenge the government over bail granted to 26 trainee Sub-Inspectors (SIs).
Furthermore, the opposition persistently highlights the issue of establishing new districts, which was proposed by the preceding Gehlot administration.
The Bhajanlal government has constituted a review committee to evaluate the viability of district creation, and there is speculation that several smaller districts may be dissolved. However, no definitive decision has been reached, resulting in ongoing uncertainty.
Although the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) was awarded national status following the BJP's ascension to power and an MoU was established between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh regarding the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC)-ERCP river interlinking initiative, the opposition has criticized the government for not publicly disclosing the MoU, which has led to speculation about its stipulations.
Veteran BJP figure Rajendra Rathore stated, "Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has emerged as the 'modern Bhagirath' of Rajasthan, striving to provide drinking water to 21 districts through the revamped ERCP."
The BJP's success in the by-elections—winning five out of seven seats—has enabled the party to rebound from its Lok Sabha setbacks, thereby strengthening Chief Minister Bhajan Lal's political standing.
Conversely, Congress leaders, including state president Govind Singh Dotasra, have accused the BJP government of not delivering on its promises. The Bhajanlal government has four additional years to craft a new narrative of growth while navigating challenges.
