Jaipur, July 1 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government of Rajasthan has confirmed that it will not annul the ongoing recruitment process for the Sub-Inspector (SI) positions.
During proceedings in the Rajasthan High Court, Advocate General Rajendra Prasad articulated the government's position regarding the SI recruitment case before Justice Sameer Jain.
He informed the court that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is diligently investigating the matter, and FIRs have been lodged following a meticulous review of all records.
"The investigation is moving forward positively, with several suspects already apprehended," he noted, emphasizing that it would be unreasonable to question the integrity of the entire recruitment process due to the actions of a few.
The state government also pointed out that numerous selected candidates are currently in training.
In this context, cancelling the entire examination would be a rash decision that could have dire consequences for the futures of these candidates, it stated.
Following this submission, the court ordered that copies of the report be distributed to all involved parties.
The final hearing in this case is set for July 7.
In a previous session on May 26, Advocate General Prasad had conveyed to the High Court the government's intent to reach a definitive conclusion regarding the situation.
The court had expressed concerns over the procrastination in decision-making.
In response, the Advocate General explained that the decision required clearance from the Chief Minister and requested additional time.
The petitioners contended that four distinct agencies had recommended the cancellation of the recruitment, yet the state government was still delaying its resolution.
Earlier, during the hearing on May 15, the state government had also asked for more time from the court.
Justice Sameer Jain had previously warned that if a decision was not reached by May 26, those responsible might face repercussions.
The state government, in its response, stated that a sub-committee meeting occurred on May 13, but several Ministers were unable to attend due to Operation Sindoor, and one was absent because of illness.
The next meeting was planned for May 21, and the court was assured that a decision would follow.
In 2021, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission announced recruitment for 859 positions of Sub-Inspector and Platoon Commander.
Following the exams, there were allegations of a paper leak, leading to the investigation being handed over to the Special Operations Group.
Numerous arrests were made during the investigation, including many trainee SIs.
Subsequently, petitions were presented in the High Court seeking the cancellation of the recruitment.
Justice Sameer Jain's bench had previously ordered a status quo on November 18, January 6, and January 9.
Following this, on January 10, 2025, the police headquarters imposed a total ban on field training, which remains in effect.
