Jaipur, Sep 3 (NationPress) The preparations for the forthcoming by-election in the Anta Assembly Constituency (193) in Rajasthan have officially commenced, following the directives from the Election Commission of India with a special summary revision of voter lists.

A meeting with various political parties took place on Wednesday, led by the District Election Officer of Baran. The Chief Electoral Officer, Naveen Mahajan, announced that the draft voter list (with an eligibility date of 1 July 2025) was released on 3 September. Both hard and digital copies of the draft rolls were shared with party representatives via CDs and pen drives in the presence of the media, ensuring receipts were obtained.

According to the scheduled program, claims and objections can be submitted between 3 and 17 September 2025, which will be addressed by 25 September. The finalized voter list is expected to be published on 1 October 2025.

To promote voter engagement, dedicated campaign days have been established on 7 and 14 September (both Sundays), where booth-level officers will be present at all polling locations to accept claims and objections.

The draft rolls indicate that there are a total of 226,227 registered voters in the Anta constituency, comprising 115,982 men, 110,241 women, and four others.

Residents are encouraged to check their information in the draft list, which is available on the District Election Officer’s website, and to file any necessary claims or objections with the Election Registration Officer in Anta.

During the meeting, it was noted that the Bharatiya Janata Party has yet to appoint BLA-2 in the Anta constituency.

The DEO urged both the BJP and the Congress to finalize the appointments of BLA-2 across all constituencies promptly. Following the Election Commission’s approval to streamline polling booths, the number of polling stations in Anta has increased from 247 to 268. Party representatives were also reminded to ensure the appointment of BLA-2 at these new booths.

The DEO further called on the media to promote awareness of the summary revision program and to regularly publish press releases to raise public consciousness.

On May 23, 2025, the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly revoked the membership of BJP MLA Kanwar Lal Meena after he was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison for brandishing a pistol at a sub-divisional magistrate.

As per a notification from the Assembly Secretariat, Meena’s membership was terminated effective May 1. The Speaker had sought legal advice from the Advocate General and senior legal experts prior to this decision, resulting in the necessity for by-elections in Anta.
