Jaipur, March 3 (NationPress) In a pivotal step towards enhancing Rajasthan’s energy landscape, the state administration has formalized an agreement with Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to initiate extensive thermal and renewable energy projects.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma declared that with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan is embarking on audacious initiatives in power generation and distribution, aiming to become a prominent energy contributor for the country.
At the signing ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Sharma highlighted Rajasthan’s vast potential in solar energy. The state is already recognized as a leader in renewable energy, and the government is dedicated to achieving self-sufficiency in energy generation.
A primary objective is to guarantee daytime electricity for farmers by 2027, a target the government is diligently pursuing through strategic measures and expedited execution, he stated.
The agreement includes the establishment of a 1600 MW thermal power facility in Telangana, with Rajasthan and Telangana each securing 800 MW. Furthermore, Rajasthan will develop a 1500 MW solar park, a project anticipated to attract an investment of Rs 6,000 crore, generating new employment opportunities and stimulating economic advancement. The overall investment for these initiatives is projected at Rs 22,000 crore.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state’s dedication to fulfilling its ambitious energy objectives under the Clean Energy Policy-2024, which aspires to produce 125 GW of solar energy by 2030. Rajasthan is also making substantial headway towards exceeding 54,000 MW of total power capacity from both traditional and renewable sources by 2031-32.
At the recent Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, investment arrangements worth Rs 2.28 lakh crore were made, including a Rs 10,000 crore MoU between Power Grid Corporation and RVUNL.
Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka commended Rajasthan’s progress in solar energy, labeling the MoU as a transformative milestone in thermal power efficiency and renewable energy generation.
Minister of State for Energy Hiralal Nagar assured that Rajasthan’s Energy Department would collaborate closely with the Telangana government to ensure prompt implementation of the projects.
The event also featured a presentation by Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Alok, shedding light on the MoU’s implications.
High-ranking officials, including Principal Secretary (Energy) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, RVUNL CMD Devendra Shringi, and SCCL CMD N. Balaram, were present, marking the commencement of a transformative era in Rajasthan’s energy sector.
