Jaipur, Nov 19 (NationPress) The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, has sanctioned the formation of a Department for Overseas Rajasthani Affairs.
This pivotal decision emerged during a Cabinet meeting convened on Wednesday at the Chief Minister’s Office.
A variety of significant proposals were approved, including the Rajasthan Global Capability Centre (GCC) Policy-2025 and a partnership between RVUNL and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
At a press briefing, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, Industry and Commerce Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel emphasized that the new department will serve as a robust platform for communication and collaboration between the state government and the global Rajasthani community.
This department aims to formulate a policy framework that will enable Overseas Rajasthanis to access state government initiatives while also addressing their concerns.
Moreover, it will play a vital role in enhancing ‘Brand Rajasthan’ on an international scale through cultural, economic, and community engagement initiatives.
The department will host events such as Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas, Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Samaroh, and facilitate exchange programmes for diaspora groups. Additionally, a dedicated portal will be unveiled for registering Rajasthani diaspora associations.
This announcement fulfills a promise made by the Chief Minister during the previous year’s Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave.
Colonel Rathore further revealed that the Cabinet has endorsed the Rajasthan Global Capability Centre Policy-2025, which seeks to position the state as a leading global innovation and investment hub. The policy aims to establish over 200 GCCs by 2030, creating approximately 1.5 lakh jobs and making a substantial contribution to India’s burgeoning $100 billion GCC market.
Under this initiative, benefits from RIPS-2024 will be accessible to GCCs, including a 30% capital investment subsidy (up to Rs 10 crore), a 50% reimbursement of land/lease costs (limited to Rs 1 crore), a 30% payroll subsidy (up to Rs 1.25 lakh per employee per year for three years), rental support of 50% for the first three years and 25% for the following two years (up to Rs 5 crore per GCC annually), and 50% skill development cost assistance (up to Rs 2.5 crore per GCC per year).
Deputy Chief Minister Bairwa indicated that the Cabinet has also approved the formation of a new joint venture between Rajasthan State Power Generation Corporation Limited (RVUNL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
In this joint venture, RVUNL will possess 26%, while SCCL will hold 74%. The joint venture will develop an 800 MW coal-based thermal power project at a mining site, with an investment of Rs 9,600 crore, alongside a 1,500 MW solar power project in Rajasthan, costing Rs 6,000 crore.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved the renaming of Government College, Kalandri (Sirohi) to Sanghvi Hirachandji Phoolchandji Government College, Kalandri and Government College, Kailash Nagar to Matushree Puribai Punmaji Mali Torso Government College, Kailash Nagar.
This initiative aims to honor benefactors and promote philanthropic contributions to educational institutions.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel announced the allocation of 161.45 hectares in Karanisar, Bhatiyan (Pugal tehsil, Bikaner district), and 356.25 hectares in Kharnai (Rawatbhata tehsil, Chittorgarh district). These lands have been allocated at a conditional price for the establishment of solar power projects.
Additionally, 70.6 hectares have been allocated to Powergrid Barmer-1 Transmission Limited at Sokhru in Barmer for a 765 kV substation.
