Jaipur, July 26 (NationPress) In an ambitious eco-friendly initiative known as Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan, the state government plans to plant 2.5 crore saplings in just one day to celebrate Hariyali Teej on July 27.
The campaign will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma during the 76th State-Level Van Mahotsav in Jaipur, with a focus on enhancing environmental preservation and encouraging community involvement in tree planting.
On July 27 (Sunday), CM Sharma will kick off the 76th State-Level Van Mahotsav at the Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University campus located in Madau village, Jaipur.
This event signifies a major advancement in the state’s green mission — Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, the Rajasthan government has set a lofty goal of planting 50 crore saplings over the next five years.
As part of this mission, 2.5 crore saplings will be planted in a single day during this year’s forest festival. During the event, Chief Minister Sharma will engage in tree planting and establish a 'Matribhoomi Vann' on the university campus. Additionally, drone-assisted seed planting will be introduced as part of this initiative. CM Sharma will also explore a special exhibition hosted by the Forest Department and will present the Amrita Devi Award to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to forest and wildlife conservation.
Public representatives, senior government officials, environmentalists, NCC and Scout cadets, students, NGOs, private institutions, and local citizens will all take part in this event.
Following the Jaipur celebration, the Chief Minister will attend a similar forest festival and plantation program in Mandawara village (Dhod block) of Sikar district. A statewide drive will see district-level forest festivals occur simultaneously in all districts, striving to green Rajasthan through extensive public engagement.
Last year, under the same mission, 2 crore saplings were planted in a single day and a total of 7 crore saplings were planted. This year, the target has doubled to 10 crore saplings, emphasizing the state’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
