Jaipur, April 3 (NationPress) A remarkable weather shift has taken place across Rajasthan this Friday morning, unleashing rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms in various western and central districts. This unexpected spell has brought essential relief from the oppressive heat, leading to a significant drop in temperatures throughout the state.

The abrupt weather change on Friday morning saw rainfall in districts such as Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Nagaur, Sikar, Kuchaman-Didwana, and Jalore. While several areas experienced heavy downpours, others had merely light drizzle, creating a more pleasant atmosphere. Notably, hailstorms were reported in the rural regions of Jaisalmer.

Didwana recorded substantial rainfall between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., with refreshing cool winds mitigating the rising temperatures.

In contrast, Jalore remained cloudy throughout the morning, experiencing intermittent drizzles. The interplay of rainfall and strong winds has resulted in a marked decrease in both maximum and minimum temperatures, offering a temporary respite from the heatwave conditions that had gripped the state.

Weather experts attribute this phenomenon to active Western Disturbances over the region, alongside moisture influx from the Arabian Sea, which has triggered the rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail activity. This weather pattern is predicted to persist until April 7-8, with no heatwave forecasted in Rajasthan until at least April 10.

In Ajmer, a brief yet intense rain spell occurred around 10:00 a.m., lasting approximately 5 minutes, providing instant comfort. Meanwhile, Sikar witnessed rain beginning around 7:30 a.m. across multiple areas, enhanced by cool breezes. The minimum temperature in Fatehpur dropped to 18.8 degrees Celsius, down from 21.4 degrees Celsius the previous day.

Drizzle was reported around 7:00 a.m. in Jalore, with cloudy conditions lingering. In Didwana and Nagaur, Didwana received around 2 mm of rainfall, while light showers were observed in parts of Nagaur, including Sanju and Riyan Bari. In Jaisalmer, rural areas experienced heavy rain and hail, while the city itself saw drizzle under an overcast sky.

A more potent weather system is anticipated to activate starting the evening of April 6. The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has indicated that April 7-8 may bring widespread rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms across numerous districts.

An Orange Alert has already been issued for eight districts, and a yellow alert remains in effect for the remaining areas of the state. While the rain has alleviated the heat, it has also resulted in damage to crops. In regions like Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh, strong winds and rain have flattened mature wheat crops.

Similar crop damage has been reported in parts of Sikar. On Thursday, Kota recorded the highest temperature in the state at 38.3 degrees Celsius, while Jaipur reached a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius under clear skies. The abrupt weather transition has since led to a decline in temperatures across various regions.
