Hyderabad, Nov 2 (NationPress) The Rashtrapati Nilayam, the winter retreat of the President located in Secunderabad, hosted the 'Cyclothon-Pedal for Planet' event this past Sunday, aimed at fostering environmental sustainability and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
This second edition of the Cyclothon was held in partnership with the Hyderabad Cyclists Group and was sponsored by the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).
The event saw an enthusiastic turnout of 1,200 participants, including members from the defence, police forces, and various local cycling groups, who navigated a 20-km route from Rashtrapati Nilayam to the Secunderabad Parade Ground and back.
The cyclists traversed through the streets of Secunderabad, raising awareness about the significance of environmental conservation and the adoption of healthy living practices.
The Team Telangana & Andhra Sub Area (TASA) of the Indian Army actively took part in the occasion, which was inaugurated by Maj Gen Ajay Misra, General Officer Commanding Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, alongside badminton Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal.
TASA expressed that their involvement in the event underscores their dedication to initiatives that foster nation-building and promote a sustainable future. The event concluded with a feeling of achievement and a reinforced commitment towards safeguarding our planet.
Additionally, NMDC observed the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 from October 27 to November 2, centered around the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.”
During the closing session of the Vigilance Awareness Week, Maj Gen Misra praised NMDC’s role in driving the nation’s economic progression and acknowledged its unwavering commitment to ethical governance, integrity, and morality. He asserted that the foundation of strong organizations is built on devoted personnel and that vigilance is a shared duty of all employees, not just a departmental responsibility.
He further drew comparisons between the armed forces and public sector enterprises, urging a strict adherence to established protocols, processes, and transparency in operations through the use of technology and automation. He emphasized that vigilance is the means through which we honor the trust bestowed upon us by our esteemed nation.
